The participation of Zoo Metrics in the V Animal Health Innovation Day Congress, organized by the Fundación Vetmasi Plataforma Tecnológica de Sanidad Animal at the CSIC, marked an important milestone in showcasing innovative technological solutions applied to animal welfare.
The event brought together industry leaders, veterinarians, and technology experts, and Zoometrics stood out with its unique approach combining software, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced data management to transform veterinary medicine and urban ecosystems.

Innovation for Animal Welfare: Biodegradable 3D Prosthetics
Innovation for Animal Welfare: Biodegradable 3D Prosthetics
One of the congress’s flagship projects was a pioneering solution presented by CareliaVet and Zoometrics, using 3D printing and biodegradable materials to design external prosthetics adapted to different species. These prosthetics naturally decompose after fulfilling their purpose, reducing invasive procedures, minimizing postoperative infections, and supporting environmental sustainability.
Main benefits of the project:
- Elimination of secondary surgical procedures thanks to biodegradability.
- Personalized anatomical adaptation for each animal.
- Reduction of medical costs and healthcare waste.
- Faster and more effective animal recovery.
This technology represents a significant advancement not only for domestic and farm animals, but also for endangered species, promoting rapid rehabilitation and a safe return to their natural habitats.

ZOOMETRICS and MEOW METRICS: AI and Ethical Urban Wildlife Management
ZOOMETRICS also introduced Meow Metrics, a SaaS platform designed for the comprehensive management of feral cat colonies. This tool combines advanced analytics and AI-based predictive capabilities, offering municipalities and volunteers a complete solution for implementing the CER Protocol (Capture, Neuter, and Return).
Key features of Meow Metrics:
- Real-time tracking and digitalization of authorizations.
- Customized indicators and statistics for municipal technicians.
- Training and smooth communication between volunteers and public administrations.
- Use of AI to predict zoonotic risks and improve urban public health.
With Meow Metrics, Zoometrics not only helps municipalities comply with the new Animal Welfare Law, but also contributes to the development of sustainable Smart Cities, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A Multidisciplinary Team Behind the Innovation
The success of Zoometrics is driven by its founding team, made up of experts in software, artificial intelligence, and data management:
- Juan Manuel Taboada Álvarez: Specialist in databases and AI applied to biodiversity monitoring.
- Diana Barrantes Olías de Lima: Consultant in innovation and digital transformation, specialized in GovTech and animal welfare.
Toward an Ethical and Technological Future for Animal Welfare
Zoometrics’ participation in leading congresses and events across Spain demonstrates its commitment to technological innovation serving animal welfare.
Projects such as biodegradable 3D prosthetics and Meow Metrics are examples of how technology can solve complex challenges while promoting sustainable and ethical solutions for domestic, wild, and urban wildlife.
